XPENG G6 Long-Term Parking: 30–60% Charge vs LFP Full Charge
The 2024 LHD XPENG G6 manual gives a general 30–60% storage range and separate full-charge advice for LFP batteries. How to check which applies.
XPENG G6 in storage: the general 30–60% range and LFP full-charge advice
Scope: applies only to the 2024 G6 English left-hand-drive manual in XPENG's official global user-manual list (XPENG_G6_2024_EN_LHD_User_Manual; the manual states publication in July 2024 and infotainment V5.2). "Global" in the list does not prove that the China-mainland version or any export-market car has exactly the same configuration; asterisked or "if applicable" items apply only where fitted, and features may change after OTA updates, so check the vehicle, software version and local rules. This article covers only owner charging and handover to service; it does not infer the cell type and gives no battery-circuit, power-isolation or removal work.
Check the manual version first, and whether the car actually has LFP
Even under the same G6 name, battery type and infotainment version change which advice applies. XPENG's official list labels this file as the 2024 English LHD G6; the manual's foreword says it corresponds to infotainment V5.2, that asterisked equipment applies only to some configurations, and that features and instructions may change after OTA updates. Before planning long-term parking, write down the car's actual battery type, current software version, where it will be parked and for how long, in the job record or service enquiry. Don't rely on posts saying "all G6s are the same" to apply the charging advice listed later specifically for LFP batteries to every car, and don't treat the global LHD manual as direct proof for every China-mainland configuration. [1]
The general storage passage is a range and a check plan, not a promise of charge
The manual's traction battery maintenance passage says the charge still drops slowly while the car is idle; before long-term parking you should check the SOC and keep it at 30%–60%. The same page gives indicative parking days for different starting charge levels and recommends powering on for a check every three months, charging promptly if the level is low. These figures can't be taken as a guarantee that the car will still start after so many days parked, because the manual also notes that low temperatures shorten range and lengthen charging time, and that long storage in hot or cold conditions speeds up battery wear. Recording the starting SOC, check dates and vehicle messages is more useful to the service team than copying down a number of days; don't treat running the battery flat as normal storage. [1]
LFP has its own full-charge frequency; ask the service team where the two conflict
The same manual then lists separate advice "if the vehicle uses an LFP battery": charge to full at least every two weeks or every 1,000 km, and if parking for more than a week, a 100% charge is recommended. This and the general 30%–60% storage range above are not interchangeable. The manual doesn't set a single priority between the two passages for every car and every parking length, so don't rewrite them yourself as "always 100% for long-term parking" or "never fully charge LFP". Give the cell type, software version, parking duration and the location of both passages in the manual to an XPENG service centre together, and get a plan suited to the actual car. If you find abnormalities listed in the manual, such as underbody scrapes or unusual smells, stop using the car and contact the service centre; don't attempt to deal with battery components. [1]
