Tesla Model 3 wiper smearing: organise observations before booking

Scope: Model 3 2024+, North America, software 2026.32; replacement and service follow the vehicle's official procedures

Describe the smearing so it can be checked

A fixed water line, a blurred patch, juddering and noise are different complaints and should be recorded separately, not lumped together as "the wipers are broken". The official manual covers wiper maintenance and washer fluid restrictions; this article doesn't diagnose the rubber, the glass or the mechanism directly from these symptoms, and doesn't recommend generic wipers whose size hasn't been checked. [1]

Record conditions and recent changes

It's worth noting, once parked, the amount of rain, the temperature, the washer fluid used and when the car was last washed or the wipers changed; take any photos from a safe position. Write "appeared after washing" as a timing relationship, not as a confirmed cause. Before ordering, have the supplier check the car's identity and actual specification, and have fitting done by someone who can follow the official requirements. [1]

Deal with the visibility risk first

If you can't see clearly, stop driving, wait for conditions to improve or ask for help; don't drive faster to see whether the wipers clear it. If a wiper sticks, a part is loose or something hits unusually, stop switching it on again and book an inspection. Sign-off should recheck the original symptom in safe conditions and keep records of products used and repairs; this article includes no removal or mechanical adjustment steps. [1]
