Tesla Model 3 Seat Belt Reminder Won't Stop: Booking Service
The Model 3 manual says a persistent seat belt reminder needs a service visit. What to record about the seat and message, and why fake buckles are out.
Tesla Model 3 seat belt reminder keeps appearing: how to arrange a service
Scope: Model 3 2024+, North America, software 2026.32; no sensor or wiring adjustments
Match the reminder to the seat first
The official seat belt page says a persistent reminder needs a service appointment, and that the affected seat should not be used until the problem is resolved. Owners should record which seat it is, whether anyone was sitting there, whether anything was placed on it and the exact message on screen. Don't call every reminder "a broken sensor", and never buy a fake buckle to silence it. [1]
How to organise the handover information
This article suggests putting the time it happened, how the seat was being used and any recent interior cleaning or repair in one record. Take screenshots while parked, and don't have passengers travel unbelted to test it. The workshop's job is to assess the seat belt and related status; the owner's job is to provide the background, not to unplug connectors looking for the wiring that causes the reminder. [1]
At handover, look at what's unresolved
The service sheet should state what was checked, what was found and whether any seat use restrictions remain. A reminder that has temporarily gone away can't automatically be taken as proof of repair, and "not reproduced for now" can't be rewritten as fault cleared. If there is a problem with the webbing or buckle, or a restraint system message, stop using the affected seat and leave it to professionals following the model's documents. [1]
