BYD Seagull wipers: continuous speeds, single wipe and washer follow-on wipes

Scope: China-mainland 2026 Seagull; official website manual file 260317; physical PDF pp. 69–70, "Wiper switch" and "Front windscreen washer"; no wiper removal or repair procedures

Tell continuous speeds from the single wipe

This car's manual makes clear that the low and high speeds are continuous wiping; the single wipe is the first position of the button at the end of the lever, wiping at low speed while held and ending that request when released. These functions can't be told apart just by wiper speed. We suggest identifying the control markings from this car's manual while safely stopped, and when reporting a fault, saying whether a continuous setting or a short request was selected, rather than just writing "the wipers won't stop". [1]

There's a finishing action after washing

The second position of the end button operates the windscreen washer: it sprays continuously, then the wipers work. The manual explains that spraying stops when you release the lever or after continuous operation exceeds the set time, and the wipers still complete one to two cycles before stopping. This finishing action differs from what happens when the single wipe is released, so the wiping after each wash should not be judged a sticking switch; persistent problems should still be checked by a workshop based on the actual behaviour. [1]

If they stall, don't keep driving them

If snow or similar stops the wipers mid-sweep, the manual requires you to switch the wipers off, stop the car in a safe place and then clear the snow or debris. It does not call for repeatedly selecting a higher speed to test whether the motor is strong enough. When rain first starts, mud mixed with rainwater can blur the view instantly; make sure you can see before setting off. The manual requires glass washer fluid and warns that water or other kinds of detergent may damage the washer motor. This article only explains control states; it gives no wiper-arm manipulation, live testing or removal-based fault-finding. [1]
