Tyre choice affects the control systems

The manual requires tyre size, brand, tread pattern and total load capacity to be consistent, and explains that tyre size and construction affect wheel speed, which may make the ABS act inconsistently. Comparing only how the tread looks and missing the load rating and size is not just a comfort issue: the tyres are part of how the driving safety systems read and act on the vehicle's state. ^[1]

Getting a quote when one tyre is damaged

If one tyre is damaged, do not simply accept replacing just the cheapest single tyre. This manual recommends replacing all four, or both tyres on the same axle, and explicitly prohibits replacing only one tyre; that prohibition should not be downgraded to a general reminder. The workshop should review the plan against the condition of the other tyres and confirm the original specification and any approved alternatives. Fitting is still the workshop's responsibility

Confirming the specification does not replace checks at fitting: tyres, rims and tyre pressure monitoring must still be handled according to the procedure for the actual vehicle. If you notice a change in handling, abnormal wear or a safety-system warning, stop test-driving and have it checked. This article gives no wheel removal torques, tyre size upgrades or suspension modification advice, and the maximum cold pressure on the tyre does not replace the vehicle's tyre pressure placard. ^[1]
