BYD Seagull Phone Keys: Deleting One Doesn't Revoke All
On the BYD Seagull, deleting the owner's phone key may not end shared keys. How Bluetooth and NFC keys differ, and what to check before handing over a car.
BYD Seagull phone key handover: revoking one device doesn't revoke shared keys
Scope: China-mainland 2026 Seagull; official website file 260317; PDF pp. 294–297, "Bluetooth key" and "NFC car key"; functions depend on phone and vehicle configuration
First separate key types and permissions
The manual distinguishes the short-range Bluetooth key from the NFC key, and describes NFC sharing permissions and management differently for different phone operating systems. A phone that can open the doors may not also be allowed to drive the car, and a failed Bluetooth connection does not mean the NFC key won't work. Before handing over the car or changing phones, confirm which key types are actually enabled and which devices are linked. [1]
Don't guess at sharing relationships
This manual warns that on some phone operating systems, shared keys that have been set up may keep working after the owner's key is deleted. So deleting one key on the original phone does not automatically end every authorisation. Check each device and the sharing status in the official management screen and follow the official guidance, rather than assuming authorisation has been revoked because you logged out of an app. [1]
Deal with lost devices promptly
The manual requires the matching key to be deleted promptly if a wearable key device is lost. Users should contact official support to confirm current software behaviour, and should not give account passwords or verification codes to repairers or strangers. This article does not create or transfer permissions, or give ways to bypass authentication; when a used car changes hands, the full account and key status should also be confirmed through official channels.
