BYD Seagull headlamp mist or standing water: tell them apart before replacing

Scope: China-mainland 2026 Seagull; official website file 260317; PDF pp. 321–322, "Lamp condensation"

Similar appearance, not necessarily the same cause

The manual explains that lamps exchange air with the surroundings through vents, and that moisture can form mist or droplets on colder surfaces when temperatures differ; mist after rain or a car wash does not necessarily mean a fault. So a photo of mist inside a lamp cannot on its own prove a seal has failed, still less justify buying replacements for both headlamps. [1]

Standing water is handled differently

The same section states clearly that if there is obvious standing water inside a lamp, it should be repaired at a workshop. Light mist and standing water cannot all be covered by one "normal" label. Record the weather, any car wash, the location and how it changed afterwards, and let professionals assess it; don't drill holes, block the vents or open the lamp housing to deal with moisture yourself. [1]

Consider both lighting and electrical safety

If it comes with lighting failure, warnings, damage or reduced visibility at night, stop relying on that lamp for risky driving and arrange a professional check. This article does not promise the mist will disappear, and does not describe baking or heat-drying. Whether to replace the assembly depends on the lamp's actual condition and the manufacturer's repair basis, not on an aftersales photo alone. [1]
