Don't choose a card on capacity alone
The manual recommends a dedicated dashcam card or the card supplied by the manufacturer, and explains that the file format of some larger cards does not match the system's requirements. Buying a larger card does not guarantee the system will recognise it and write to it reliably. Before buying, check this car's dashcam requirements, the card's specifications and the vehicle software, rather than going by the specification of another dashcam. [1]
Confirm that it is recording
The manual describes the screen state when the card is recognised and recording has started, and the messages shown when the card is not recognised or writing fails. So a card being in the car does not mean accident footage has definitely been saved. Check the actual recording status while safely parked; deal with any problem promptly rather than finding out, only when you need evidence, that the device had not been working for a long time. [1]
Protect important files first
Formatting changes what is stored. Where accident, insurance or repair evidence is involved, first save existing files as legitimately required, then have the workshop deal with compatibility.
