BYD Seagull Brake Service Records: Three Items to Check
The BYD Seagull schedule lists brake pads and discs, pipes and hoses, and guide pins on separate intervals. How to check each is in your service record.
BYD Seagull brake service records: pads and discs, pipes and hoses, guide pins
Scope: China-mainland 2026 Seagull; PDF p. 309, "Maintenance schedule"; the record-keeping approach is editorial advice, not a manufacturer measurement or lubrication procedure
Each of the three items has its own interval
This table lists brake pads and discs for inspection every 12 months or 20,000 km; pipes and hoses first at 12 months or 20,000 km, then every 24 months or 40,000 km, more often under severe conditions; and guide pins first at 12 months or 20,000 km, then every 24 months or 40,000 km. One pad and disc check does not automatically mean the other two items have been done. [1]
What to look for when you receive the record
Editorial suggestion: split service records into three categories, pads and discs, hydraulic pipes and hoses, and guide pins, each stating the location, whether it was inspected and what was found. For example, a record of front pad and disc wear alone says nothing about the rear wheels or the guide pins. If an item was not inspected, it should be shown as outstanding rather than hidden under a general "brakes normal"; any abnormality is for the technician to assess further using this car's service documents. [1]
An inspection record is not permission to repair
This record format helps owners confirm what the service covered; it does not infer guide pin function by model, or give lubricants, caliper removal or permitted wear limits. A single symptom cannot point to a particular faulty part either. If braking performance is abnormal, a warning appears or control changes, stop driving and get professional help; purchasing and repair should be based on diagnosis and fitment confirmed for the actual vehicle.
