BYD Seagull Brake Pipe and Hose Inspection Intervals
The BYD Seagull schedule sets a first and a follow-up interval for brake pipe and hose checks, with a shorter one for severe use. How to read it.
BYD Seagull brake pipe and hose checks: the first and later intervals differ
Scope: China-mainland 2026 Seagull; PDF pp. 308–309, "Maintenance schedule"; explains only this document's intervals and gives no hydraulic work steps
This car's interval is not a single fixed number
Page 309 lists the first inspection of brake system pipes and hoses at 12 months or 20,000 km, then every 24 months or 40,000 km, or every 12 months or 20,000 km under severe conditions. Whichever comes first applies. These figures apply only to the vehicles covered by this document, and the later interval cannot be applied repeatedly from the car's first day. [1]
Which comes first: the schedule or the condition
Page 308 requires rubber hoses to be inspected by professionals according to the schedule, and replaced immediately if they are deteriorated or damaged. So not yet having reached the interval since the last inspection is no reason to wait on known damage; equally, not seeing any leak now cannot replace the scheduled professional condition check. The interval, the conditions of use and actual damage are three different bases, and all three need to be kept. [1]
How to make the records traceable
This article suggests that service records state whether it was the first inspection, the time and mileage basis used, whether severe conditions applied, and whether an abnormality was found in the pipes or which section of hose. A record should not just say "brakes checked, normal" without stating the scope. If braking performance changes or a warning appears, stop using the car and get help; this article gives no hose clamping, pressure testing, disconnecting or bleeding procedures, and hose fitment must be confirmed from professional information.
