2025 SEAL front calipers: identify floating or fixed construction before ordering
Australian MY25 BYD SEAL trims have different front calipers and discs. Separate construction, colour and service parts before assessing interchange.
When an Australian 2025 model-year SEAL enters the workshop for front brake inspection, do not write only “SEAL front caliper” on the parts list. Factory entries differ for Dynamic, Premium and Performance. Identifying floating or fixed construction and the corresponding disc first helps avoid mixing structurally different parts.
Read the three versions in the same table
The Australian factory equipment table, Version 02.02F, lists these differences:[Factory equipment table][N05]
| Version | Original front caliper description | Original front disc description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Dynamic | Floating | Ventilated disc |
| Premium | Fixed | Ventilated disc |
| Performance | Coloured fixed | Ventilated drilled disc |
“Coloured” describes appearance; “fixed” identifies construction. Similar paint does not establish the same caliper. Nor does “ventilated disc” on two trims establish interchangeability of all calipers, pads and mounting components.
Floating and fixed describe how clamping works
Brembo's public technical material explains that a floating caliper's piston pushes a pad from one side. The body moves along its guides so that the other pad also presses against the disc. A fixed caliper body stays fixed while opposing pistons push the pads on both sides.[Caliper operating principles][R01]
This affects inspection. For restricted movement or abnormal seal areas, identify whether the inspected object is a piston, seal or the moving mechanism of a floating design. Do not transfer the inspection objects of one construction directly to another.
Local damage does not yet determine a complete caliper or repair kit
Brembo's repair material identifies pistons, seals, dust-protection components and floating-caliper guides as separate inspection and repair objects.[Caliper repair explanation][R02] A useful workshop finding identifies the damaged location rather than simply stating “caliper problem”.
A supplier repair kit does not establish suitability for this SEAL. Conversely, absence of a repair kit from a product brochure does not prove that the manufacturer supplies only a complete caliper. After identifying construction, use inspection results and model-specific technical information to determine repair or replacement scope. “Fixed” is not permission to assemble an upgrade from another version's brakes.
Scope and verification
This article covers only Australian MY25 SEAL Dynamic, Premium and Performance. The model year is separately checked against an explicit [MY25 version designation][N06] in the local brand dealer network. Brembo material explains general construction and service objects only. It does not prove that Brembo supplies this vehicle or authorise a SEAL repair kit or repair procedure.
No public data was available in the reviewed material for caliper piston quantities or diameters, OE numbers, separate parts availability, wear and test limits, tightening torques or cross-trim interchangeability. [To be verified] Verify compatibility or interchangeability using the VIN and local Australian manufacturer parts catalogue. Brake repairs must follow the relevant manufacturer technical information.
