2025 ATTO 1 mirrors not folding automatically: identify the original trim first

Australian MY25 ATTO 1 Essential has manual-folding mirrors; Premium has electric folding. Separate adjustment, heating and folding concerns.

If the exterior mirrors do not fold after locking an ATTO 1, do not immediately order a folding motor. The Australian 2025 model year (MY25) Essential and Premium have different folding specifications. Identify the original functions before describing the issue so that absent equipment is not treated as a fault.

Electric glass adjustment does not mean electric housing folding

BYD’s MY25 Australian specification table lists the functions separately:[Manufacturer specification, page 3][R01]

| Function | Essential | Premium |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Electric exterior mirror adjustment and heating | Fitted | Fitted |
| Manual housing folding | Fitted | Not listed as this trim’s equipment item |
| Electric housing folding | Not fitted | Fitted |

Glass adjustment changes the viewing angle; folding draws the whole mirror housing towards the body. For a report saying “the mirror does not move”, establish whether the glass cannot be adjusted or the housing cannot fold. These observations should not automatically become “replace the folding mechanism”.

For Essential, the absence of electric folding is consistent with the specification table. Working glass adjustment and heating do not add electric folding.

On Premium, distinguish button operation from security-system operation

For vehicles equipped with electric folding, the manufacturer’s manual explains that pressing the folding button folds the mirrors and pressing again unfolds them. Both mirrors fold automatically when the anti-theft function is armed and unfold when disarmed.[Manual, page 60][N03]

For “mirrors did not fold after arming”, clarify whether the button moves both sides normally, or neither button nor linked operation responds. This identifies how the complaint arises, rather than diagnose a motor from one locking attempt.

Likewise, adjustable glass establishes a response to that operation only. It does not replace observation of folding. Defining the failed function is more useful than immediately reporting a faulty complete mirror assembly.

Do not repeatedly operate the controls when iced up

If the mirror glass or housing is iced up, stop operating the control and do not scrape the glass directly. The manual gives this reminder near the folding instructions and recommends de-icing spray.[Manual reminder, page 60][N03] This is an instruction for a specific condition. One failure to move while frozen is not grounds to condemn a motor.

Scope and verification

This article covers only Australian MY25 ATTO 1 Essential and Premium. Model year and trim allocation follow the MY25 specification table. The manual linked on the official website supplements operation of the relevant function; starred features are not applied to every trim.

No public data was available in the reviewed material for separate supply of mirror glass, folding motors or housings, OE numbers, pins, wiring, coding or test limits. [To be verified] Check cross-trim compatibility, interchangeability or retrofitting using the VIN and the local Australian manufacturer parts catalogue.

Once the function and required component are confirmed, use the parts enquiry page.
